Christmas Cards!

Last year was so fun for me because it was the first time I provided Christmas cards in my product line. Since I offered a set of 25 Christmas cards to my September clients, I wanted to get them out ready to display. I was also getting ready for an ordering session and set out some other products I've worked on over the last year.  When Veronica came into the living room and saw everything on the table, she said, "Wow, Mom, you've really taken photos of a bunch of people!" I'm missing some, too, because I didn't keep copies of portraits, albums, and trinkets!

I'm super excited about some new shapes of Christmas cards for this year! I'm definitely using one of these shapes for our family Christmas card. These one-of-a-kind, high end press cards are ideal for holiday cards, baby announcements, and graduation invites. The round 5x5 cards have a whole in the top so you can use it as an ornament. One more thing. They aren't like the ones you get at the warehouse stores, they are actually printed on both front and back! Call me to schedule your photo session!

Las Vegas Sky

I love the sky in Las Vegas. I've said it before and I'm not sure if it's because I grew up in colder country - in Idaho and Michigan, that I love the Las Vegas sky so much. Even when we moved to Maryland for three years, it rained the whole month of April and I kept thinking, "Am I ever going to see blue sky, again?" Don't get me wrong...I love people in Idaho, Michigan, and Maryland, and there are parts of those states that are extremely beautiful, but I LOVE the sky in Las Vegas. Yes, one of the downsides of living here is the heat, but I can count on blue sky over 300 days of the year. Some days the sky is so colorful that I have to stop what I'm doing, pull my car over, and just stare at the majesty of it all! Tonight was one of those times. I was on my way to Bible study (we are doing a Beth Moore study of the Book of Revelation) and all I had was my iPhone. It's not even the 3G or the newest iPhone 4, but it has a camera. This is what I love.

By the way...I also love the sky in Hawaii!

Roger and me in Maui - 2006 - and he accuses me of talking on the phone too much!

I Love Weekends!!

Yes, I love weekends. Mostly because, I love family and I usually get to spend more time with them. I went to my granddaughter's first soccer game and my stepson is the coach.

Three-year-old girls!! Some boys on the team, too. Some of the dads ran with their kids on the field to help them out. Don't even say they are too young after you look at the joy on their faces!

Our granddaughter made three goals at her very first game! After she would make a goal, she would run up to her mom and sit on the blanket. You would frequently hear Jake saying to the kids "Hey, Andrea, hey Sona, hey Brooke, we need you back in the game."

Jake teaching the kids to "high five" each other after the game.

That was fun, now time for a snack!
"I need a break after all that hard work!"
Enough rest, let's play for several more hours while we are here at the park!
Later, our granddaughter came over to spend the night! It's mommy and daddy's 9th anniversary!!!

Happy Anniversary!
She loves her baby brother and is getting impatient! The other day she said, "I want to be a big sister, NOW!!"
Time to go out and celebrate!
Never get tired of photographing this sweet face!
Or her scary face!
Walkin' on water!

We continued the weekend at church with more family, then came home to hear the wonderful sounds of my daughter and granddaughter jamming on the piano!

Now they are singing and playing Beatle's tunes! I had to take a break and sing "Back in the USSR" for them since they weren't that familiar with the tune. Guess we need to go see "Beatle's Love" again! Anyone got free tickets? Nice weekend, nice Sunday, and it's not even over, yet!

Andy and Rosa on the Pond

Andy and Rosa - two of my favorite people in the world (they are favorites of a lot of people) - wanted to get a family photo with the new addition to the family - Boiler. Boiler was so funny, because just before I snapped the picture, he would lift up his ears...right in front of their faces. Here is just a sneak peek from their session. They also get 25 Christmas cards with their session!

Family Photoshoot

I love it when a mom calls me out of the blue and tells me she has seen my work and wants to schedule a photoshoot! I love it when she knows what she wants, coordinates her family's clothing, and makes her daughters' hair look beautiful! I'm sure this family would look beautiful even in t-shirts and messy hair. They also have a new puppy that got in some of the family photos! Thanks Ginny, Ty, and girls for a lovely afternoon. I hope you enjoy this first look.

Pumpkin Bread on the First Day of Fall!

Today is the first day of fall and my son, Jeremy's, birthday. When he was in kindergarten, his teacher sent home a recipe for pumpkin bread. I've been making it off and on ever since, but always in the fall. We've sold a few houses with the smell of pumpkin bread! Scroll down for the recipe if you are interested.

Pumpkin Bread

1 cup canola oil
2 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 16 oz. can of pumpkin

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 6 small loaf pans with vegetable cooking spray. Mix the above ingredients together in mixing bowl. Add the following to the above mixture.

3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cloves

Mix for about 2 minutes. Pour pumpkin mixture into small loaf pans. Bake for 40 minutes. Cool and try not to eat it all in one day.

Sunrise and a morning walk!

One of my favorite things about living in Las Vegas is our beautiful blue skies. But, yesterday, we had a few clouds that just made the sunrise spectacular! I didn't realize how beautiful until I rounded the corner on my first time around the neighborhood. Now I've heard from many photographers to take your camera everywhere. I can barely force myself to get out of bed to walk at sunrise, much less take my camera. All I had was my iPhone and I thought if I rushed back to my house, I could get my camera and on the second go around of my neighborhood, I could get the picture. Well, of course, that didn't happen. By the time I got back, the sun was in the sky. So, I tried again this morning. While it was still beautiful, it wasn't the same as yesterday. It's okay, though because it got me excited about getting out and walking again. I will keep trying until I see it again. When the colors are as spectacular as yesterday, I will take out the telephone wires in photoshop. But, for today, what you see is what you get.

I also loved how the palm trees looked as the sun was rising...

Another beautiful day in Las Vegas!

Veronica the Chef

I've blogged before that Veronica is a Pampered Chef consultant and she is studying to be a pastry chef! She just got her uniform and already had a lot of fun breaking it in with chocolate. She's going to the store to buy some balloons and chocolate to make dessert! Can't wait!

First day in uniform...
After class - lots of practice with chocolate!

Soccer Season!

I went to a soccer game this morning and thought my favorite picture of the day would be of my favorite little redhead scoring a goal. While he did score many, the one of his little sister and his mom ended up being my favorite...

Here are a few of the little soccer player in action!

Couples Only Pampered Chef Party and Game Night!

We had some of our long-time friends over for a "Couples Only Pampered Chef Party and Game Night" with Veronica as the demonstrator! We had six different kind of cheese graters (some Pampered Chef - some not) and each guy got to pick one of the graters (in order of who arrived first). They were given a chunk of cheese and raced to see who could grate their cheese first. Roger asked them, "How often to you get invited to a party where you're asked to cut the cheese?" Jake won with the old fashioned grater.

Jake picked the one he knew how to use!

Next we played a game where each couple had to name the Pampered Chef item and page number with the description of the product. Open Catalog quiz! Andy and Rosa came close, but Jake and Carmel won that, also!

Just in case you noticed the paint splashes on the wall, we are trying to decide on a paint color for the dining room and kitchen..feel free to weigh in!
We ate dinner - using the grated cheese for toppers on our twice-baked potatoes and then Veronica demonstrated our new favorite dessert - Churros Con Chocolat! All of the women took a turn at twisting the dough to make the best churro. Veronica was the judge and Diana, who happened to be celebrating her birthday, won that contest. We made flags so Veronica could be the impartial judge! Of course, they all did great and they tasted delicious. Carmel is pregnant, but Roger fed the elephant in his tummy with three churros.

Number 6 is the winner!
Go Diana!
I made a birthday cake for Diana, so we sang Happy Birthday to her and ate the chocolate cake and churros con chocolat! Good bet if you come to this house for dinner, you will have chocolate AND get your picture taken!

A candle for each decade...
Great friends!
